About this Unique Collection
Ernie Cefalu, Owner/Creative Director

Early in my career, I was sent from New York, to open the West Coast Satellite office of a creative agency. It was with this company that I conceived and designed the Rolling Stones Tongue Logo, Cheech & Chong’s "Big Bambu", Grand Funk Railroad's "E Pluribus Funk" and Alice Cooper's "Schools Out" albums. In 1971, I started my own company, Pacific Eye & Ear, which became an icon in the golden era of album cover art.

As a young designer, I had the honor and privilege of working side by side with many great, emerging artists. For 14 years, as Pacific Eye & Ear's Creative Director, I was the creative thread that linked together some of today’s top illustrators, designers, writers and photographers. It was a luxury to have even one good illustrator in your arsenal. Imagine having Drew Struzan, Bill Garland, Carl Ramsey and Joe Garnet all at the same time! That’s what I call, real illustration muscle!

Because of their global reach, movie posters have made Drew Struzan The #1 Most Collected Artist In The World. Now, at the height of his career, he has retired from creating any more commercial work. His work forward will consist solely of fine art paintings and sculptures. This means that his commercial works to date, are all there will ever be!

When Drew applied his talents to album covers, his abilities, coupled with the creative that I brought to the collaboration, produced a body of work the likes of which the music industry had never seen.

During our time together, I watched Drew’s abilities develop and soar far beyond anyone I have ever worked with and learned from. Even though our time together creating album covers, before he moved into movie posters exclusively, was only about 3 ½ years, we remain great friends today. He is a great talent and an even greater human being; I am both proud and honored to call him friend.

Making the pieces in this collection even more valuable and sought after, is the fact that in the 3 1/2 years that Drew did album covers, he produced only a hand full compared to over two decades of creating more than 185 movie posters.

This unparalleled collection of over 250 original pieces of art in total, is available for the first time ever, only at: originalalbumcoverart.com.
